Analysis
Summary: Every year at the St. Sophia Greek orthodox cathedral a big celebration is held to celebrate Greek culture. The festival has Greek food, dancing, and music. The festival is well known through the city and people travel far distances to go to the festival. People come from all the way from orange county to participate in the festival. The church was built by Charles Skouras after he became a well know movie producer. Some of the foods that are there are souvlakia which are kabobs of pork and lamb. Many famous singers and actors go to the festival to sing and give opening remarks.
Thoughts/emotions/observations: I believe that this is a very well put together and productive festival. These types of cultural festivals help spread the culture around to people who might not know what it is. The spread of a unique culture can help the popularity of that culture to rise. In this festival I observed that the foods that were used matched the culture very well. Foods such as the kabobs and mini doughnuts are well known throughout the Greek culture. I also observed that the use of famous actors gave the event credibility and not just a small rag tat event. I feel slightly emotionally attached to this event due to my Greek heritage. Over all I believe that this is a well designed event that was executed properly.
Cultural ties: In this article the event that goes on ties to the culture very well. The event had traditional foods, songs, and dances. If there was a side by side comparison of this event to the actual culture it would be very accurate. This event is important to the culture of Greece because it is helping it spread throughout the world. Also having famous people at the event could spread the culture to people by hierarchical diffusion. It is also important to Greece because this event informs people that might not know the culture, and more educated people in this world makes a smart society.
