Summary
A greek magazine editor published the names of more than 2,000 greeks with swiss bank accounts about a year ago was cleared of privacy violations on November 27th. This action led to a political storm because many of the names were those of publishers and entrepenuers who were quite famous in Greece. The names that were on the list were people that were commiting tax evasion. The French finance minister noticed and drew attention to the fact that Greece could not control and prevent wide spread tax evasion. All of the crimes that were commited by the people on the list racked up to about 8.1 million dollars.
Thoughts/emotions/observations
I believe that this article shows the corruption that is happening in Greece. The french finance minister even adressed the issue of Greece's government not stopping wide spread tax evasion. Also another observation is that the government seemed to favor the tax evaders rather than the editor that brought them to justice. My thoughts on this article is that this is a very informative article. This article could possibly lead to stopping the corruption of Greece. If the Greek government sees this article they will want to organize and rally the people to stay strong. Emotionally I have a strong bond with Greece due to my Greek heritage. This article makes me think that Greece has decsended into a dark age rather than a golden age.
Political ties
This article ties in with politics in Greece because it shows the corrupt government. The event that happened in the article exposes what Greece is trying to hide. The Greek government corruption is leading to rioting and pandamonium among the people. This would be considered a centrifugal force by the way. This violence will soon lead to the destruction of Greece.
